Oh man, that's a while to wait. :( It's expensive but worth it. Heheh you're making me get curious about The Day After Tomorrow again. :P
I know! I laughed so loud and was like I cannot believe that just happened... especially since as soon as the Sarge had the dress on Swoff had this really funny nervous wtf?! expression on.
lol @ Sarge in a dress! I need me a copy of this DVD definitely. Thanks so much for sharing the caps. :)
Heheh I know! Yeah, you really do. The movie had oodles of homo-erotic subtext but the exras on the DVD are just like 'Yeeep gay-ness be here. Come and get it!'
In some deleted scene Swoff goes on and on about masterbation and doing some 'grab ass' with the other guys.
Yes, now that I know HOW to cap some things... I'm a bit of a cap whore. :P
Shit. I don't think that DVD's out here yet. But damn, I need to see some ass-grabbing action. Looks like, it's off to bootleggers for me now.
You wont believe how badass bootlegs are here. They copy everything! EVERYTHING!
Yeeeah. I actually had a bootlegged version for a while. It lasted me out til I could make it when it finally came out. I heart this movie like woah.
Where are you now?
In Hongkong now, girl. I'm now a lowly expatriate. One of the Us's top export. lol! whatever. I'm chillin'.
Anyway, I hope all is well with you. I'll be going out with my daughter later when it's not too hot, maybe I'll grab myself a bootleg of the Jarhead DVD. I hope they already have the one with the nice features and all. :P
I just found the other entry (is now with it again.) I had to look up 'expatriate' in the dictionary.
Good luck finding it! I hope you get the godo one too. There's a weird widescreen version and then the good one is 2 discs.
Hee, the part about "grab ass" made me cry, it was so funny.
I know!!! and his face when he said it was all like "Yeah I said it, GRAB ASS!"
:P
You bought the director's cut? I didn't know one was available. All I've seen out there is the regular widescreen and the special edition. The special edition has more extras, but the cut of the movie is the same as shown in theatres, it seems.
Can there really be three versions out there? That seems excessive. I bought the 2 disc collectors edition. I've seen the widescreen version floating around. I personally am not obsessed with getting 40% more movie on the sides or something. I enjoy the deleted scenes more in general and these ones in purticular were really amusing. Have you bought one yet? or are oyu waiting it out?
I bought the regular widescreen edition. It includes the deleted scenes, but it doesn't include the mini documentaries. I don't think there is a director's cut available -- at least not yet!
Yeah, I suck at wording. The collectors edition is what I should have said. does the widescreen version have the voice overs too? Cause Sam Mendes does a really good... I don't know, I'd call it a directors cut.. but that must be wrong... voice-over thingy.
The one with Anthony Swofford is like 'meh' but the director says a lot of really interesting things. Especailly in the scene where Jake's character goes nuts. I'd heard rumors about him chipping his tooth and shit but Sam explains it all out and it's pretty interesting. Actors are crazy ass people and often times push themselves into really weird mind frames.
Yeah, it has Mendes' voice over thingy on it. He's all, yeah, this movie is very homosexual.
I know! It's just what I wanted to hear... cause it was... but it was so nice to hear it. He did a really good voice-over on American Beauty too. Some directors are awful and they don't say ANYTHING but he gets major kudos from me for having done two movie that I really like a lot.
I was especially glad he revealed where all the improvised parts were. I was looking for the shooting script so I could figure that out myself and then he just tells us. Bless you, Mendes.
Hi. I'm retard-o for just noticing this comment now, but yeah. That was another thing I really liked about the commentary. It's cool to know how much of themselves the actors get to slip in with add-libbing and stuff. It also makes me be in love with Mendes just a little bit more because it means he's a chill director. Someone with a vision but really able to take in outside ideas and make them work.
Oh cool! Thanks! I always like pictures.
I did end up writing a letter to some marines in Iraq and the main guy found me on myspace, (which was kinda embaressing cause my profile on there is weird.) It's cool though. I've written back and forth with him a couple times now.
I'm generally an anti-war hippy, but I just can't imagine how crazy it would be to be over there.
I'm drunk now and I forgot what I was saying. Thanks for the link. :) |
